A Treatment Plan is an important part of Oriental Medicine. I get asked frequently “Will I just have a visit & be done”. A better question is “How many visits will my condition take?”. Most patients who come in with Pain Problems should come in at least once a week, if it’s bad or chronic then two times a week is best. The idea is the pain goes down after treatment & then gradually comes back. We want to treat before it comes back as bad as before. Gradually, as the patient get better the time between visits gets longer. Generally, I tell patients to try 6-8 treatments to see if Acupuncture can help.
Patients with Digestive issues, Women’s Health Problems, Asthma or Skin Conditions generally get Chinese Herbs & are seen less frequently for Acupuncture. However, when they come in we monitor how they are doing with the Herbal Formula. Once again, it helps to give the Herbal Formula some time to work. When creating a Treatment Plan we consider the age, gender of the patient and the extent of the problem. We will also sometimes include Nutritional Supplements, Exercise and/or Qi Gong or Tai Chi.
